Gracie Gracie Still Amazing, Amazing!

Gracie Gracie, a 6-year-old bay mare owned by Sharon Proctor and Fred Ward, Jr. of Brunswick, Maine, proved she's the real deal. In another muddy day at the track on Sunday (6/28), Gracie and driver Kevin Switzer once again turned out an incredibly fast mile in Race 9 - 1:58.2, the only race that came in under the 2 minute-mark all day! Cardiogram Hits a Career Milestone

Friends and Family Remember Sandi Childs

Friends and family gathered at Scarborough Downs on Friday (6/26) to remember Sandi Childs of the Dansan Farm in Saco, in a very special Winner's Circle presentation. A large crowd of horsemen, co-workers from Shaw's, and members of the Childs family all assembled to celebrate her very special life. During Saturday's race finale, the fog had rolled in so thick, the camera crew had a difficult time locating the field of horses. But the winner emerged clear as day: Driver Shawn Gray (on right) aboard Sharealike N, an 8-year-old bay gelding owned and trained by Earland Webb of Windsor, ME -- his 4th win of the day. Fox Valley Dolly Reigns in the Rain

Fox Valley Dolly, a 5-year-old trotting mare, owned by George Bulukian of Franklin, MA and driven and trained by Drew Campbell, had her first win of the 2009 season in race 9 on Friday, the $4,000 open-level trot. Unsinkable Molly!

Molly N Me, a 7-year-old bay mare, owned and trained by Michael Haskell of Buxton, Maine, and driven by Drew Campbell, hadn't had a win since 2005 but paced her way to victory in the finale on Sunday (6/14) despite the pouring rain. The wet conditions couldn't keep her from that long-anticipated trip to the Winner's Circle, where she was greeted by a very happy group who joined her there after the race. Congratulations to all! Let's hear it for The Boy!

The Boy N, a 12-year-old black gelding pacer, owned by Gaetan Cloutier and Mary Jane Parker of Leeds, ME, and trained and driven by Shawn Gray, had his 3rd consecutive win and 48th career victory in Race 7 on Saturday (June 13th) in a blistering 1:56.1, his seasonal best. Au Artist Victorious in the First Leg of the Sandi Childs Memorial

Au Artist, a 5-year-old bay mare, owned by Ben Bill & Will Stable of Carmel, ME and trained by Shawn Gray (Kevin Switzer driving), was the winner of the 1st leg of the Sandi Childs Memorial Pacing Series for Fillies and Mares. Unstoppable is how fans describes driver Drew Campbell's performance this week, and today, Friday (6/5), was no exception. Not only is he good, but he's lucky too, as evidenced in Race 7: Campbell appeared only second best with Veeba’s Rose, a 9-year-old trotting mare owned by Fred Tenney of Scotsdale, AZ and trained by Allison Mac Donald, before being placed first by the judges over Classic Andy and driver Kim Ireland, making it five wins for the day. It was another day of top performances at Scarborough Downs on Sunday (5/31), especially for driver Drew Campbell who scored 4 wins on the day's card; his 4th being here in Race 9, the $6,000 feature pace for fillies and mares, aboard Keystone Natalie, a 5-year-old mare owned by Richard Knight of Westbrook and traned by Randy Bickmore. Rupert Rupert: Back to Back Fast Class Winner

Rupert Rupert, an 8-year-old gelding, owned by Scott Dillon of Anson, Maine and trained by Joseph Nelson (Shawn Gray in the sulky), clocked the fastest mile of the State of Maine harness racing season thus far in Saturday's (5/30) $6,000 feature pacing event. Driver Drew Campbell had a great day, despite the muddy conditions out on the track Friday (May 29th) with five -- count 'em - 5! wins on the day's 10-race card: Race 1 with Donna L's Hope, Race 4 with Diamond Deal (below), Race 6 with Heezaclown, Race 8 with Armbro Anthony who was the Dirigo Pacing Series 2nd leg winner, and in the Race 10 finale with Flash Dancing. Mr D B, a 10-year-old gelding owned and trained by Lisa Saindon of Topsham, ME and driven by Rob Dinning, paced his way to victory in Race 6 on Friday (5/22), the first leg of The Dirigo Pacing Series. Laura's Taz, a 14-year-old bay gelding owned by Sarah Nehila of Scarborough and trained by Timothy Nehila, held his head high as driver Rob Dinning checked out the odds board after this exciting win in Race 7 on Thursday (5/21). Meet Sarah Sezno!

Say hello to Sarah Sezno, a new baby colt from the Nehila Farm in Scarborough (mom is CC Wild Falls). He was born May 9th and take a look... the star on his forehead is a near-perfect symbol of the State of Maine! What a cutie! Congratulations!

He Can Send 'Em!

Driver Drew Campbell had quite a day behind the reins on Sunday (5/17) with 4 wins on the card. This puts him at 51 wins so far this season. Congrats Drew! The rundown: in Race 2 with Best Way, in Race 5 aboard Cohenucopia, in Race 8 with L-N-A's Dream and in the finale with Reine Victoria N. Two-time defending Trotter of the Year, Kerogen, a 6-year-old horse owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, TX and trained by Wendy Ireland, took the win in Race 8 at Scarborough Downs on Friday (5/15), beating out his trotting nemesis, Velocity Hall, while also beating his own track record. Foggy Conditions Didn't Slow Ideal Conditions

Ideal Conditions, a 7-year-old brown gelding (#5, on R) owned by Scott Dillon of Anson, Maine and trained by Joseph Nelson, didn't let the dense fog that blanketed southern Maine slow him down in Race 9, the Open-level pace, on Saturday (5/9). In fact, he and driver Heath Campbell completed the mile in an astoshing 1:55.4, the fastest time around the Seaside Oval so far this season. Read the release. Trainer Randy Bickmore decided to do his own driving in Race 8 on Friday (May 1) aboard the 2 horse, Psychic Credit, a 5-year-old brown gelding (owned by Emery Pelletier of Falmouth). Beside him is Bickmore's usual catch driver, Rob Dinning, aboard the 7 horse, Par One, a 13-year-old trotter owned and trained by Jon Chenard. The Velocity Hall / Kerogen Battle Delivered

The highly-anticipated battle between Velocity Hall (Donald Richards driving) and two-time state of Maine Trotter of the Year Kerogen in the $6000 Open-level event on Friday (5/1) was exciting to watch. Six-year-old Kerogen (owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, TX and trained by Wendy Ireland), with Kim Ireland in the sulky, stuck like glue to the Hambletonian combatant the entire mile but in the end was narrowly defeated. Even though brother Heath took the win in Race 7 on Thursday (4/30) with Mondo Hanover, driver Drew Campbell placed second with Silvano, a beautiful 5-year-old gray gelding owned by Laura Searway of South Portand and trained by Butch Eaton. Mr. Nice Guy Wins Speed Show at the Downs

Despite his undefeated record in 2009, Mr Nice Guy, a 4-year-old gelding owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, TX and trained by Wendy Ireland, appeared to be forgotten in the pre-race chatter at Scarborough Downs as World Champion Georgia Pacific made his State of Maine debut in Race 9 on Saturday (April 25). But driver Kim Ireland quickly brought his star pupil back to the forefront and secured the pacer’s third consecutive Open-level victory. Nason's First Career Win with Rollin' West

18-year-old rookie driver Steven Nason earned the first win of his career on Saturday (4/25) with the pacer Rollin’ West, a 6-year-old gelding pacer owned by Marcella Dowling of Chelsea, ME and trained by John Nason. Nason represents the third generation of Nasons to race victoriously at the Downs, following in the footsteps of his legendary grandfather Arthur (of Mountain Skipper fame) and his father John. Velocity Hall Wows 'em at the Downs

Velocity Hall, a statuesque 4-year-old trotter, owned by Thomas Dillon of Anson, ME and trained and driven by Donald Richards, had a phenomenal first start of the 2009 season at Scarborough Downs under the gaze of an awed crowd as he effortlessly took the win in a 20 length victory in Race 5 on Friday (4/24). Time was 1:59.3, the fastest trotting mile so far this season. Mr. Nice Guy is Mr. Fast Guy

It's two in a row for driver Kim Ireland and Mr. Nice Guy, the 4-year-old son of Western Ideal, owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, TX and trained by Wendy Ireland, who crossed the finish line in a zippy 1:56.3 in Race 9 on Saturday (4/18), making it the fasted mile paced so far in the young 2009 season. Kerogen Slays the Mighty Dragon

Two-time defending State of Maine Trotter of the Year, Kerogen, the 6-year-old son of Lindy Lane, owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, TX and trained by Wendy Ireland (driven by Kim Ireland), started his 2009 racing season with a fastest-trot-of-the-season mark of 1:59.3 in the Open Trot race 8 on Friday (4/17), while driver Jerry Watson aboard Mighty Dragon N hounded them the entire mile. A Great Season Opener!

With bright sunshine and temps in the 50s, Scarborough Downs enjoyed a picture-perfect opening day on Friday 4/10, a day many fans waited all winter for. In Race 3, driver Drew Campbell led the way with 7-year-old pacing mare, Nunnery's Luck, a new member in the Scarborough Downs stables, owned by Joan Hamstead of Greenwood, DE and trained by Crawford Shahan, Jr., while Shawn Gray and Gold Ball lurk in the pocket.
